Weeks later, my mother passed away and I forgot about this image. Yesterday I saw it and remembered Masana and her push/pull attitude toward me. How daughters are like with their mothers. And it made me cry.
Geography may separate us, my friend. But these moments will always bring us together.

Gli amici vanno e vengono……… da un po’ di tempo, quelli che vanno sono molti di più di quelli che vengono…..
Aver superato i 40 (anni, non amici…) vuol dire aver imparato a distinguere tra gli amici veri e quelli che quando ti chiamano al telefono faresti prima a rispondere: “Sì, sono io. Questa volta, di cosa hai bisogno? (è inutile che inizi la telefonata chiedendomi come sto, tanto lo so che non te ne frega niente, e che se adesso mi chiami è perché devi chiedermi un favore!)”.

La malinconia è spesso presente nelle mie immagini, cara Francesca.

C’è però da dire che, come in fotografia, anche nella vita e nelle amicizie a forza di togliere il superfluo, solo il “meglio” rimane.
