Pane e memoria – Bread and memory

ENGLISH

Each of us chooses their chest where to treasure their dreams – if they have any.
Mine is distant, centuries away, clear and vague in the memory of past lives, through wood, metal and silk.

Deafening silence and mere acceptance of what I must atone for, someway or another.
Considerations of a midafternoon, that rained down on me with the happenstance fierce violence.

So, when the pain made itself unbearable, I walked my Tokyo.
I beat, step by step, the dream of a lifetime. I deeply breathed its fruits, I found refuge in its most secluded corners.
Aimlessly I retraced its moon pathways. I perceived, tasted, seen.

Then, instinctively, as led by bread and memory, I found myself in the Temple of “Heaven that was”.
Among cherry trees, gravestones, parasols, paintings, photographs and days that will remain beyond time and its end.

I thought, written, sketched. I invented an alabaster sky. With the glass of a quite common lens I translated in images my obsession. I dismantled it piece by piece, petal by petal.

And finally, after a time that seemed endless to me, I realized that life, as I was able to build it, it just couldn’t have given me more.

In that moment I gave myself to this rain of beauty that went along with my photography, naked in front of the art of nature.
Naked, under the notes of a Piazzolla tango, that I remember only to have heard it tell.
