La rosa separata, la chiamava Pablo Neruda che le ha dedicato versi sublimi.
\nL\u2019isola fatta di luce, di sale, di pietra e di pensiero.
\nElementi ancestrali, indistinguibili, che appartengono a Rapa Nui dalla notte dei tempi.
\nCinque ore d\u2019aereo dalla costa infinita del Cile. L\u2019Isola di Pasqua, perch\u00e9 cos\u00ec la battezz\u00f2 il navigatore olandese Jacob Roggeveen, che la scopr\u00ec per caso nel giorno benedetto di resurrezione del 5 aprile 1722.
\nGrazie a Dio – ed alla geografia – che la posero sperduta tra i luoghi sperduti, gli olandesi prima, e gli inglesi poi, non trovarono vantaggio nel restare per rubarle l\u2019anima.
\nTeorie affascinanti quanto bizzarre si contendono il primato su questo lembo estremo di Polinesia. Senza ombra di dubbio il pi\u00f9 affascinante, misterioso ed unico.<\/p>\n

Venti e vulcani l\u2019hanno forgiata dal nulla del mare, i Rapa Nui l\u2019hanno resa quella leggenda che infiamma cuori e fantasie d\u2019ogni inguaribile, romantico viaggiatore.
\nA me ha confuso, come nessun luogo mai prima. La sua magnificenza spropositata m\u2019ha intimorito fino a togliere agli occhi ogni punto di riferimento.
\nCon fatica immensa ho dovuto addomesticare l\u2019ossessione, la smania che mi mordeva dentro, l\u2019emozione senza fine che portava l\u2019istinto ad aggrapparsi inutilmente alla ragione, prima di poterla restituire semplicemente e poeticamente per quello che \u00e8: la Isla \u201checha de luz, de sal, de piedra y pensamiento.\u201d<\/p>\n

“The Separate Rose”, Pablo Neruda called it, dedicating sublime verses to her.<\/span>
\nThe island wrought of light, of salt, of stone and thought.<\/span>
\nAncestral elements, indistinguishable, that have belonged to Rapa Nui since the dawn of time.<\/span>
\nFive hours by aeroplane from Chile\u2019s endless coast. Easter Island, so christened by the Dutch navigator Jacob Roggeveen, who stumbled upon it by chance on the blessed day of resurrection, 5 April 1722.<\/span>
\nThanks be to God\u2014and to geography\u2014that placed her lost among the lost; the Dutch first, and the English after, found no profit in lingering to steal her soul.<\/span>
\nTheories as fascinating as they are bizarre vie for supremacy over this uttermost scrap of Polynesia. Without a shadow of doubt the most captivating, enigmatic and singular.<\/span><\/p>\n

Winds and volcanoes forged her from the sea\u2019s very nothingness; the Rapa Nui rendered her the legend that sets ablaze the hearts and fancies of every incurable, romantic traveller.<\/span>
\nShe bewildered me as no place ever had before. Her disproportionate magnificence cowed me until it stripped my eyes of every familiar bearing.<\/span>
