Fotografo e stampatore di prim&#8217;ordine.<br \/>\nNato e cresciuto nella Grande Mela, vive &#8211; cosa pi\u00f9 unica che rara &#8211; da ventidue anni nello stesso appartamento ad Alphabet City.<\/p>\n<p>Una stanza con angolo cottura, un bagno e la camera oscura in fondo al corridoio.<br \/>\nLa Polaroid che gli scatto a pranzo finisce dritta sul muro, a fianco di un altro ritratto che porta la firma di Robert Frank &#8211; mi scuserete se io per queste piccole cose ancora mi emoziono.<br \/>\nSid stampa per lui dal 1969.<\/p>\n<p>Lo sguardo torna sul muro; vecchie e nuove foto di famiglia. I suoi cinque nipoti, Sid in compagnia dell&#8217;amico Allen Ginsberg, seduto su una panchina insieme a &#8220;Mr. Frank&#8221;.<br \/>\nQuanti ricordi caro Sid. Quanta semplicit\u00e0 nel tuo sorriso schivo e rassicurante.<\/p>\n<p>A tutti quelli che necessitano di lustrini e paillettes, che credono ciecamente nella fotografia di tendenza. A chi si perde ancora in lunghe, noiose e quanto mai sterili discussioni su qualit\u00e0 e nitidezza, rispondo soltanto con quel sorriso.<br \/>\nCon l&#8217;umilt\u00e0 di un uomo che la fotografia &#8211; quella vera &#8211; l&#8217;ha vissuta fino in fondo.<br \/>\nAl di fuori dai palcoscenici finti e pretenziosi, al di fuori dalla presunzione dei mediocri.<\/p>\n<p>Complimenti caro Sid e&#8230;..CHAPEAU!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #732d03;\">English<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #732d03;\">I met Sid Kaplan in New York. He&#8217;s a photographer and legendary darkroom Master.<br \/>\nBorn and raised in the Big Apple, he&#8217;s been living for twenty-two years in the same apartment in Alphabet City.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #732d03;\">One room with kitchenette, a bathroom and a darkroom at the end of the corridor.<br \/>\nThe Polaroid that I shoot during our lunch goes right up to the wall, next to a Robert Frank picture. What a honour!<br \/>\nSid is been printing for him since 1969.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #732d03;\">I keep looking at the wall. New and old family photos. His five grandchildren, Sid with his friend Allen Ginsberg, sitting on a bench with &#8220;Mr. Frank&#8221;.<br \/>\nHow many memories dear Sid! What a simple smile!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #732d03;\">To all those who blindly believe in trendy photography. To all those who lose themselves in long and boring discussion about quality and sharpness, I want to reply only with that smile.<br \/>\nWith the humility of a great photographer.
