\nall\u2019interno della Rassegna Roma Fotografia 2020 l\u2019antica arte dello Shibari.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Inaugurer\u00e0 a Roma il prossimo 27 febbraio alle ore 19 presso la Muef Art Gallery, spazio espositivo dedicato alla fotografia e alle sperimentazioni nel contemporaneo, la mostra fotografica di Umberto Stefanelli dedicata all\u2019antica arte dello Shibari.
\nVentiquattro immagini scattate in 12 ore. A fare da cornice un piccolo locale di Minami ed un love hotel di Osaka, al centro il corpo come tela bianca su cui comporre, seguendo regole precise, il dipinto di corda e pelle.
\nFigure avvinte ad una fune che si librano nel vuoto, movimenti perfettamente coordinati per rimanere in equilibrio. Un intreccio di corpi e canapa, realizzato attraverso l\u2019uso di nodi, seguendo le forme geometriche che ricordano un\u2019altra antica arte giapponese, quella dell\u2019ikebana, che da sempre sta a significare sensualit\u00e0, vulnerabilit\u00e0 e forza come elemento fondamentale della composizione floreale. Nelle immagini tutto il fascino di una tradizione centenaria in equilibrio tra l\u2019arte marziale dell\u2019hojojutsu e la \u201cpittura della primavera\u201d (in giapponese shunga), ispirata al pi\u00f9 celebre stile del \u201cmondo fluttuante\u201d ukiyo-e.
\nDello Shibari, vera e propria arte della composizione dei corpi, Umberto Stefanelli svela la grazia, la raffinatezza, la sensualit\u00e0 e l\u2019armonia degli intrecci geometrici delle corde che avvolgono meravigliosamente le curve e le rientranze naturali dei corpi. \u201cSiamo una ventina di spettatori a godere di un\u2019atmosfera Kitsch che rimanda ad alcuni film di Almodovar. La Mama prepara la submissive: la corda inizia il suo cammino sul corpo, la Mama \u00e8 veloce\u2026 una serie di nodi che hanno dell\u2019impossibile. La luce \u00e8 scarsa, il flash \u00e8 un sogno e la possibilit\u00e0 di movimento \u00e8 ridotta a zero, ma inizio a scattare.\u201d (Umberto Stefanelli \u2013 Photogeisha).
\nCresciuto artisticamente a New York e Tokyo, dove ha vissuto per diversi anni e dove ha perfezionato il suo modo personalissimo di fotografare, Umberto Stefanelli ha esposto a New York, Rochester, Minneapolis, Chicago, Tokyo, Atami, Parigi, Roma, Milano, Firenze, Napoli, Torino, Brescia, Vienna, Lishui, Shangai. Le sue opere sono conservate nel Polaroid International Museum U.S.A., nel Museo Nazionale della Fotografia di Brescia, nella Galleria Civica di Modena, nel CIFA – Centro Italiano della Fotografia d\u2019Autore, nel Museo della Fotografia di Lishui \u2013 Cina, nello Shanghai Duolun Museum Of Modern Art ed in altre collezioni pubbliche e private, nazionali ed internazionali.
\nDa giugno 2009 ha iniziato, su www.umbertostefanelli.com, un progetto di narrazione tra immagini e parole che \u00e8 tuttora in corso.
\npHOTogeisha One night stand in Osaka, che andr\u00e0 avanti fino al 14 marzo, sar\u00e0 uno degli eventi di spicco della prestigiosa Rassegna Roma Fotografia 2020, che prevede, all\u2019interno di spazi pubblici e privati della Capitale, la partecipazione di grandi nomi della fotografia internazionale che terranno workshop, talk, incontri e dibattiti con il pubblico.
\nUmberto Stefanelli terr\u00e0 presso la MUEF Art Gallery, nella giornata del 7 marzo dalle ore 18,30, un talk aperto al pubblico ad ingresso gratuito, in cui spiegher\u00e0 la genesi della mostra.<\/p>\n

\nOne night stand in Osaka, in the images of Umberto Stefanelli<\/span><\/strong>
\nas part of Rome Photo Festival 2020 the ancient art of Shibari.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Umberto Stefanelli’s photo exhibition, dedicated to the ancient art of Shibari, will open in Rome on 27 February at 19 at the Muef Art Gallery, an exhibition space dedicated to photography and contemporary experimentation.<\/span>
\nTwenty-four images taken in 12 hours. Framed in a small room in Minami and in an Osaka love hotel. The body as a white canvas on which to compose, following precise rules, the painting of rope and leather.<\/span>
\nFigures tied to a rope that hover into the void, perfectly coordinated movements to keep in balance. A tangle of bodies and hemp, created through the use of knots, following the geometric shapes reminding another ancient Japanese art, the Ikebana, which has always meant sensuality, vulnerability and strength as a fundamental element of the floral composition. In the images all the charm of a centenary tradition perfectly balanced between the martial art of hojojutsu and the “picture of spring” (in Japanese shunga), inspired by the most famous style of the “floating world” ukiyo-e.<\/span>
\nAbout Shibari, a true art of body composition, Umberto Stefanelli reveals the grace, elegance, sensuality and harmony of the geometric weave of the strings that wonderfully wrap the curves and natural body recesses. “We are about twenty spectators to enjoy this Kitsch atmosphere that refers to some Almodovar movies. The Mama prepares the submissive: the rope begins its journey on the body, the Mama is fast… so many impossible knots. The light is dim, the flash is just a dream and I can\u2019t move that much, but I start shooting. ” (Umberto Stefanelli – Photogeisha).<\/span>
\nArtistically raised in New York and Tokyo, where he lived for several years and where he perfected his very personal way of photographing, Umberto Stefanelli exhibited his work in New York, Rochester, Minneapolis, Chicago, Tokyo, Atami, Paris, Rome, Milan, Florence, Naples, Turin, Brescia, Vienna, Lishui, Shanghai. A selection of his work is included in the Polaroid Collection U.S.A., in the Brescia National Museum of Photography, in the CIFA \u2013 Italian Center of Author Photography, in the Civic Gallery of Modena, in the Lishui Museum of Photography, in the Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art and in other public and private, national and international collections.<\/span>
\nSince June 2009 I started, on www.umbertostefanelli.com, a storytelling project, among words and images, that is still ongoing.<\/span>
\npHOTogeisha One night stand in Osaka, which will continue until March 14th, will be one of the prominent events of the prestigious Rome Photo Festival 2020, that will include the participation of important photographers in public and private spaces, which will hold workshops, talks, meetings and debates with the public.<\/span>
\nUmberto Stefanelli will hold a free talk to the public at the MUEF Art Gallery on March 7th from 6.30 pm, in which he will explain the genesis of this exhibition.<\/span><\/p>\n
