Là, dove il marmo fluttua – There, where marble drifts

There’s a place in Rome where marble defies gravity—it drifts.
Where shadows shun the past, conjuring futures never woven.
This is the EUR, born for an Exposition that faded, yet rising as a vision: vast, metaphysical, steeped in dreams.
Envisioned by the regime as a grand imperial stage, war transfigured it into an archaeology of might-have-been.
Its stern architectures, unyielding forms, and silences etched in colonnades and boundless voids proclaim a modernity stilled in time. A beauty bare, poised for
the lens, yet ever out of reach.

Federico Fellini cherished it, as one clings to a haunting dream.
In 8½ and La Dolce Vita, he treads its paths with burning eyes, seeking in
those silent halls the graceful relics of a world unborn. A realm where truth yields to the imagined.
Later, Paolo Sorrentino would seize its boundless spell.
In the Salone delle Fontane, in La Grande Bellezza, he conjures a Rome free of ruins or spires, where glory wanes in quiet, languid splendour.

The EUR does not speak—it summons.
It is Rome ascendant, gleaming, otherworldly.
The lucid dream of a city that spurns time’s march, yet clings fiercely to form’s eternal dance.
