A thought born amidst the folds of chance

“Aerei, treni, automobili, autobus, barche, traghetti, carrozze, risciò, tricicli e scarpe consumate”.

Many years have passed since those “ten years or a little more.” Yet the emotions linger, layered upon one another, like tempera on paper, like ancient breaths pressed upon the pristine white of a retro frame.
Snapshots that don’t chase perfection but cradle the moment. Pure inspiration
strolling through pastel hues and velvet, along a path more inward than geographic.
It’s an old project, a pre-social amarcord when travel was still about anticipation, surprise, struggle, and wonder.
You set off to discover, not to share. You got lost out of desire, not by mistake.
Photographs were precious memories, not obsessive commodities for likes and
followers.
These images, captured on Polaroid at the turn of the century, are fleeting notes gathered along the way, without apparent logic, yet always guided by that lyrical tension known only to the traveller in love with the journey.
“Airplanes, trains, cars, buses, boats, ferries, carriages, rickshaws, tricycles, and worn-out shoes.” Any means would do, as long as you were moving. No filters, no second chances. Ten shots. Just ten.
Visual notes chosen with the heart before the eye. Poetry as the rule, emotion as the guide.
Each click a small gamble, a final decision. No compulsive obsession, no burst of shots: only presence, intention, and a certain romantic naivety that, in today’s era of trigger-happy fingers and infinite memory, feels truly revolutionary.
The desire to capture a geometry, the curved line of an encounter, the chiaroscuro of nostalgia, the sudden sketch of a thought born amidst the folds of chance.
Author’s note: These images belong to the time in which they were born. The subjects could not always be traced, but each Polaroid is offered as a discreet and respectful tribute to the memory of the journey.
