As time goes by

ENGLISH

Memories are just memories and are no burden.
They don’t sift feelings through the heart.

They move lightly among well-defined chromatic shades.
As time goes by over this night in Zimbabwe, among tuxedos, smiles and golden piano keys.

Sospesi in fragile tenerezza – Suspended in fragile tenderness

ENGLISH

Photography doesn’t only have a function and a social relevance.

Photography has an aesthetic, emotional and poetic significance too.
Which should be snubbed or overshadowed for no reason.

Sometimes a scream yields to a whisper and casualness knows more than cruelty, as in this portrait of a family suspended in fragile tenderness.

Goodbye Mr. Frank

Buon viaggio Mr. Frank!

ENGLISH

From the precious chest of my memory, year 2008: Robert and his wife June in my living room awaiting dinner.

On this sad but inevitable day, between “the lines of my hand”, I spare a thought to the absolute Master Robert Frank … the greatest among the great.

Bon voyage Mr. Frank!

Hotel Jugoslavija

ENGLISH

Let’s start again, after a long stop of summer distraction and creative distortion.

Hotel Yugoslavia: few elements, all in the right place.

Rebus criptico di sole, macerie e direzioni da prendere – A cryptic puzzle of sun, rubble and directions to take

ENGLISH

Hard to find an image that, better than this, portrays the current state of Belgrade.

A city of great charm and countless construction sites, where’s the risk of suddenly “falling” in a cryptic puzzle of sun, rubble and directions to take.

ENGLISH

The couples’ role play is a bitter cup of colorful distraction and solemn solitude.

A misunderstanding to be confined in the austere desire of unsaid words and misconceived gasps.

Né dimenticanza né mero oblio – Neither forgetfulness nor mere oblivion

T’ho sognata felice stanotte.

ENGLISH

I dreamt of you being happy last night.
An aglow happiness, although far from mine.

I dreamt of you happy and I was happy.

I caressed your face outline as paths of infinite silence.
Not a silence of forgetfulness or mere oblivion.

But a respectful silence, of clenched fists, of words choked in the throat.
A silence of meaningless rationality and stumbling conventions.

A silence where you were not. Where you screamed loud, demanding that attention that I am compelled to deny you, against all logic and temptations.
Against a wild craving that would desire you on my chest.

Never a silence of forgetfulness or mere oblivion. Never that.

In punta di rosso – On tip of red

Confine Ucraina Transnistria.

ENGLISH

Ukraine Transnistria border.
Everyone awaits patiently queuing, like we used to do long time ago at the old customs.

I’m strolling, camera in hand, among cars.
The bus is stationary. The girl, on the contrary, is moving way too fast.

I miss my chance but find it again right after, in a definitely less ordinary way.
The girl is setting to cross the border on tip of red.
