Impegni, distrazioni e pigrizia – Commitments, distractions and laziness

ENGLISH

In these days I can’t write how I would like.
Commitments, distractions and laziness. A lethal triptych for my lack of goodwill.

Fortunately photography allows to express yourself even without using words.

ENGLISH

It’s one of my biggest “obsessions”: photographing people from behind.

A matter of doubts and mystery.
The desire to reveal only partially, to release a repressed imagination.

After all what would be life without doubts?
A useless game of chess with boredom. A sad trial with no appeal.

Non è la prima volta. Non sarà l’ultima – It’s not the first time. It won’t be the last

ENGLISH

Sunday, May 1st and I did not really want to write.

I am reminded of an image taken without thinking in a Pyongyang after-school.
One of those rare moments when the scene fully reflects our most optimistic expectations.

Instinct prevails over reason.
It’s not the first time. It won’t be the last.

One by – Special – One

ENGLISH

The bright Light walks again on my fantasies.
Black shadows, silhouettes, desperate whites burned by the sun.

Single images, one by – Special – One, inspired by the same, irresistible Muse.

Acqua, sale e sirene – Water, salt and mermaids

ENGLISH

The sound of a nostalgic silence, just before the Golden Week.
This spring seems out of hand, as the light of dawn in Pyongyang.

A light with flavor and memories of Kyushu. Like a window on Beppu Bay.
It’s where I would like to be now, between water, salt and mermaids.

Propaganda e Buona Pasqua – Propaganda and Happy Easter

ENGLISH

Some Propaganda posters to enrich my North Korean diary.

There aren’t so many of them. Less than I had imagined.
They are wonderful. Definitely better than some ugly billboards that adorn our cities.

Colored spots in a city of dark and deep tones.
With these patches of colors I wish you a Happy Easter.

ENGLISH

In the middle of a sleepy afternoon, a great gift woke me up. Pyongyang Subway.
A visit to Toyland. A visual delirium with few equals in the world.
If it was up to me I’d still be there, like a loose cannon, between escalators, platforms and rail cars.

Unfortunately or fortunately I was able, after a very long insistence, to go back there only the next day.
The tour guides looked at me pityingly for this incomprehensible weirdness.

They couldn’t understand all this euphoria for a simple subway.
Add to this the habit of photographing people from behind, I was lucky they didn’t request my internment in some North Korean psychiatric hospital.

Anyway paper sings and it sings for real this time.
