Una prigione atipica – An atypical prison

ENGLISH

An atypical prison.
Cement, iron and windows open to the sky.

The human figure is the detail that fills an otherwise too empty frame.
Photography lives in an unstable equilibrium.

Searching is the starting point. Discovering, the one of arrival.

E’ più facile di quello che sembra – It’s easier than it looks

Qualche volta bisogna sapersi fermare.

ENGLISH

Sometimes we should be able to stop.

Calmness expands our horizons.
The objects, which are daily before our eyes, take different meaning and different contours.

It’s easier than it looks.

Oltre le porte della percezione – Beyond the doors of perception

ENGLISH

The Doors of Perception.
I am not talking of the celebrated book by Adolf Huxely, from which Jim Morrison took the name of his band.

I’m talking about limits. These doors didn’t have to be described, but interpreted.
Because photography is first of all interpretation.
An attempt to see beyond the ordinary. Beyond the doors…..of perception.

Giorni andati e giorni che verranno – Days gone by and days to come

ENGLISH

Attention and devotion, masterfully directed by the perfect MIMA organization – http://www.mima.cc/

The empty box is now filled with light, spells, shapes, thoughts, love, fairies and mermaids.

I give myself to the yellow and white, to the scratches and caresses of one thousand and one days gone by. One thousand and one days to come.

Tracce di donna e occhiali abbandonati – Traces of women and forgotten sunglasses

ENGLISH

I’m back to MIMA – http://www.mima.cc
A reassuring silence, broken only by glances, softened voices and footsteps on the stairs.

Tomorrow I will hold a seminar on Visual Perception.
Without Her my photography would be an empty box. An objective impossibility of writing with light.

I am reminded of a sunny morning in June 2010.
Black coffee, white skin, reflections of light on the green plastic.
Pleasant, unmistakable traces of women and forgotten sunglasses.

A voler vedere, a saper vedere – When you want to see, when you’re able to see

ENGLISH

A missed Inapensiero.
One of those things that cross the path of our attention, without being worthy of a glance.

But the graphic and the texture of the paper encourage me to go beyond appearance.
When you want to see, when you’re able to see, opportunities are out there.
Just try to take advantage of them.

The lifeblood of memory

ENGLISH

End of the line, also for the expired film that gives a touch of unexpected color to these perfect blacks and grays.

Photography is the lifeblood of memory. A time machine more magical than mysterious.

Living it, like I did, it was a great privilege.
Playing with it in this way, probably a merit.
