L’importanza dei dettagli – The importance of details

ENGLISH

The small figure in the center of Pyongyang airport, makes me think to the importance of details.

To some people this figure might seem a tiny and meaningless spot.
But without her the photo doesn’t work.

All those lines and open spaces would not know where to lean on.
So she has to load all the weight of the image on her shoulders.

Un’attesa di grana e composta indifferenza- A waiting of grain and composed indifference

ENGLISH

How many question marks in this waiting of grain and composed indifference.
Two silent phones with different expectations.

No time to think or to compose. The final image is already imprinted in my eyes.
I just gotta take her home.

Un’apparizione improvvisa e silenziosa – A sudden and silent apparition

ENGLISH

A tradition reinterpreted in a modern way.
The instant photography becomes even more immediate.

No obstacles between us, the medium and the desire to tell.
Imagination takes us by the hand, like in this sudden and silent apparition on the Rome streets.

Nessun ritardo e nessuna fermata – No delay and no stops

ENGLISH

Another year passed by. Even faster than the first.
The passion for light and words is more alive than ever. It steals my sleep and my thoughts.

The rhythm rises. The foot beats time while the train runs off fast.
No delay and no stops, because my Muse doesn’t know rest or relief.

Two years of Photogeisha. Forty years of Dolly, my sister.
Happy birthday to you both. One in the name of the other.

Porte, finestre e insegne scolorite – Doors, windows and faded signs

ENGLISH

A bad headache doesn’t give me respite.
Two days under siege of useless medicines.

I close my eyes and think to the little details that can make the difference.
A chef’s uniform, doors, windows and faded signs.

L’incomparabile piacere di osare – The incomparable pleasure of being daring

All’irresistibile, incomparabile piacere di osare.

ENGLISH

Sun, glory and youth in the old port of Marseille.

A red color that brings me back to my American years, to the doubts and discoveries of life.

Questions with no answers, obsessions with no aim. The irresistible, incomparable pleasure of being daring.
