Un altro piccolo passo, un’altra grande soddisfazione.

Un lutto in famiglia – A death in the family

“Siate affamati. Siate folli”

Ciao Steve e, adesso come non mai, CHAPEAU!

ENGLISH

In recent days I’ve talked about being daring, albeit in different fields.
Today I’ve heard, with infinite sadness, the news of Steve Jobs’ death.

A pancreatic cancer took him away.
It’s impossible to pay homage to the bitten apple Genius without falling into a mawkish rhetoric.

Originality at its best. This was Steve Jobs.
For those who work, communicate and enjoy, also thanks to his inventions, it’s a death in the family.

I wanna remember him with a phrase he said at the end of a memorable speech, in front of some students of the Stanford University in Palo Alto:

“Stay hungry. Stay foolish”

Bye-bye Steve, and now more than ever, CHAPEAU!

Nun so’ pe’ l’asini i confetti! – Candies are not for donkeys!

Ogni ulteriore commento sarebbe superfluo.
Come si dice in quel di Porto d’Anzio: “Nun so’ pe’ l’asini i confetti!”

ENGLISH

I gladly propose again an article I wrote two years ago for the blog of my dear friend, Alex The Jaguar Pezzani.

“Ferran Adrià, his molecular cuisine, unstructured, and, according to some Italian journalists, too unhealthy and chemicals.

I – who had the good fortune and honor to taste it – very strongly disagree with this useless controversy unleashed by the Italian media.

Five thousand place settings per year, in view of a demand that far exceeds one million, let me think that the most avid and lucky gourmet may eat at this Restaurant three times in the life.

Meanwhile, these negligent and ill-informed idiots describe the greatest culinary Genius of modern times, as a mass poisoner with texturas shots or as a killer armed with sophisticated sfericos and liquid nitrogen.

I would see them well – very well – to work in a mine and to eat the juicy cheeseburgers of a famous American fast food. “

Any further comment would be superfluous.
As we say in Anzio: “Candies are not for donkeys!”

Inapensiero a -196° – Inapensiero at – 196 degrees

ENGLISH

A molecular moon is reflected in this cold at -196 degrees.
An Ettore Bocchia’s interpretation of “cantucci” ice-cream and Vin Santo mousse.

The cuisine, as well as photography, lives of this very important thing: interpretation.
Without it we would only be boredom and predictability.

La ruota gira, il vento anche – The wheel turns, the wind too

ENGLISH

From red to gray.
A necessary break to release the tension.

The wheel turns, the wind too.
I stop for a moment, just a moment, to sum up the things of a fruitful summer.

La parete rosso Malevič – The Malevich red wall

A volte ancora meno.

ENGLISH

Malevich Suprematism on this red wall in a Roman restaurant.

See into things without being trapped in the surface.
It’s easy to relax. Sometimes even easier.

I simboli per me contano. Così come la tradizione e l’inevitabile modernità.

ENGLISH

Superstition and symbolism in an image that I wanna dedicate to my sister and to her conflicted relationship with blacks cats.

The red color keeps going in a discrete way.
Shouting does not help. Good photography rises and grows in the slow rhythm of a lullaby.

I live in nuances. Small thoughts and old memories.
Symbols count for me. As well as tradition and inevitable modernity.
